Operating Systems

  Operating systems are of great importance for a large range of computer activities. They efficiently manage hardware resources. Moreover, they simplify management computer. Enable efficient execution of programs without any conflict between them.  Besides, the general atmosphere of all executions  require changes within the same systems without affecting the performance of existing functions.

The main functions of operating systems:

1)  First of all, Providing User interface: A range of command lines as M.S.D.O.S, TelNet, and others. Is performed within a GUI interface graphics, it contains a menu of options or buttons.

2) Service Support: Allows upgrade versions, includes graphical environments, software drivers, optimizes the quality and speed of execution and security of data and installed software application and error correction among others.

3) Resource Management: Within the Technical administrative resources exist networks that support computer system, memory, secondary storage devices and peripherals input and output.

4) Task Management: Controls access areas to C.P.U and time of each specific task hierarchically.

5) Information management and network communication: Besides, we can easily handle everything related to the installation and use of computed networks and devices inputs and outputs of information and computer data available.

In the field of personal computers (PCs), the first best known by the general public were operating systems MS-DOS, Linux, IBM OS / 2, MS Windows and Mac OS X. However, MS Windows is the operating system that has contributed to the management. Also, it can  prepare a presentation with Office, listen to music with iTunes, record a DVD with Nero or watch a movie with VLC.
